Enamel Cast Iron Cookware & Kitchenware Sets, Utensils – 100% Non Toxic, Built to Last
Cumin Co. makes enamel cast iron cookware and kitchenware designed for everyday Indian cooking, with no PTFE, PFOA or PFAS-based synthetic coatings. Our cookware combines a cast iron core with patented Enviromax™ and Enviromax™ Pro enamel technologies for heat retention, natural food release and easier care. The enamel system is tested to US FDA, Germany's LFGB and EU EC 1935/2004 food-contact standards.
Our range covers cookware, bakeware, serveware, knives, food storage and kitchen accessories. From daily rotis and tadkas to slow-cooked curries, baking and meal prep, each piece is designed around the way modern Indian kitchens actually work.
What Are Cumin Co. Enamel Cast Iron Cookware?
Cumin Co. enamel cast iron cookware combines the heat retention of cast iron with a sealed mineral-enamel cooking surface that needs no seasoning. The cast iron body provides thermal mass, while the enamel protects the iron from rust and creates a smooth, non-porous surface for cooking.
The construction has three defining elements:
- Cast iron core: A single-piece, sand-cast body that holds heat when cold food is added.
- Patented enamel technologies: Enviromax™ protects the cookware, while Enviromax™ Pro is used on the interior cooking surface.
- No seasoning: The enamel seals the iron, so there is no exposed metal to oxidise and no seasoning routine to maintain.
The collection includes roti and dosa tawas, kadais, Dutch ovens, frying pans, woks, griddles, appam and paniyaram pans, bakeware and more.
Enviromax™ and Enviromax Pro™ – Our Two Patented Enamel Technologies
Cumin Co. uses two patented enamel technologies because the interior and exterior of cookware have different jobs. Enviromax™ protects the body and exterior, while Enviromax Pro™ is engineered specifically for the cooking surface.
Enviromax™
Enviromax™ is the mineral enamel used across the cookware to protect the iron from rust, heat and everyday wear. It also provides the colour and exterior finish.
It is designed to handle direct flame and thermal changes, with mineral-oxide pigments fired into the enamel rather than applied as surface paint.
Enviromax Pro™ – The Patented Titanium-Infused Interior Enamel
Enviromax Pro™ is a four-layer, titanium-infused enamel developed for the interior cooking surface. Its vitreous, non-porous finish provides natural food release without a polymer coating, while its acid stability makes it suitable for ingredients such as tomato, tamarind, lemon and vinegar.
The interior is rated for continuous use up to 260°C and contains no PTFE, PFOA, PFAS, lead, cadmium, mercury or phthalates.
Enviromax™ vs Enviromax Pro™ at a Glance
| Parameter | Enviromax™ | Enviromax Pro™ |
|---|---|---|
| Where it sits | Interior and exterior | Interior cooking surface |
| Construction | Fired mineral enamel | Four-layer, titanium-infused fired enamel |
| Primary role | Protection, rust resistance, thermal shock and colour | Food release, acid stability and wear resistance |
| Titanium infused | No | Yes |
| Patented | Yes | Yes |
Together, the technologies form Cumin Co.'s 3x patented enamel system. Both are tested and certified to US FDA, Germany's LFGB and EU EC 1935/2004 food-contact standards.
Why Are These Cookware Genuinely Non Toxic? – Non-Teflon, PFOA-Free, PFAS-Free, Lead & Cadmium Free
Cumin Co. enamel cookware uses fired mineral enamel instead of a polymer-based non-stick coating. This means PTFE, PFOA and PFAS are not used in the enamel formulation, alongside lead, cadmium, mercury and phthalates.
The non-toxic cookware claim is supported by food-contact testing and certification rather than a coating-free label alone. Enviromax™ and Enviromax Pro™ are tested against US FDA, Germany's LFGB and EU EC 1935/2004 food-contact requirements, with heavy-metal migration testing covering acidic food conditions.
Non-Toxic Claim. Tested & Proved.
A claim is only as good as what backs it. Here is why our claims can be trusted.
- Third-party food-contact testing: Both Enviromax™ and Enviromax Pro™ are tested and certified to US FDA food-contact requirements, Germany's LFGB and EU Regulation EC 1935/2004. Our ceramic serveware and double wall mug are tested to the same FDA and LFGB food-contact benchmarks.
- Heavy-metal migration reports on file. Lead and cadmium release testing was run on the interior enamel, including acidic-food simulants. The test went beyond the condition that actually matters in an Indian kitchen, where tomato, tamarind and lemon sit in the pan for an hour. Our Cookware passed 16/16 metals screened.
- Two patented formulations, plus a third patent on the system. Patents are public documents. The chemistry is not a black box.
- Warranty as a material claim. A 10-year warranty on standard enamel cookware (5 years on LITE) is only commercially viable if the enamel is genuinely stable.
- Built by people who put their names on it. Cumin Co. Kitchenware Pvt Ltd was founded by Niharika Joshi (CMO; ex-Meta, Microsoft, Uber; ISB MBA) and Udit Lekhi (ex-Mastercard, Zomato, EY; ISB MBA; 3x patent holder).
Why "Non-Toxic" Is Not the Same as "PFOA-Free"?
PFOA-free only tells you that PFOA is absent; it does not tell you what the rest of the coating is made from. When comparing healthy cookware, look at the complete coating chemistry and the food-contact testing behind the claim.
Special Benefits of Cumin Co.'s Cast Iron Enamel Cookware with Titanium-Infused Enamel
The titanium-infused Enviromax Pro™ interior is designed for durability, high-heat cooking and natural food release. The enamel surface is rated for continuous use up to 260°C and remains suitable for acidic cooking.
Higher Chip and Impact Resistance
The four-layer construction is designed to improve surface hardness and resistance to everyday knocks, stacking and utensil contact.
Genuine High-Heat Stability
The cookware is rated for continuous use up to 260°C. This covers common high-heat applications such as tadka, deep frying, searing and dosa cooking.
Acid-Safe Cooking Surface
The enamel surface is suitable for acidic ingredients such as tomato, tamarind, lemon and vinegar. Unlike bare cast iron, the sealed enamel does not rely on a seasoning layer that acidic food can strip away.
Even Heat and Real Heat Retention
The cast iron core provides the heat retention that makes cast iron useful for Indian cooking. It helps the cookware maintain temperature when cold ingredients are added and continues to release heat after the flame is turned off.
No Seasoning, No Rust, Dishwasher-Friendly
Enamel cast iron needs no seasoning because the iron is sealed beneath the enamel. It can be cleaned with dish soap and a sponge, without the maintenance routine associated with bare cast iron.
Enamel Cookware vs Bare Cast Iron Cookware vs Non-Stick Cookware
Each material makes a different trade-off between maintenance, heat retention, weight and coating chemistry. Enamel cast iron combines cast iron's thermal mass with a sealed cooking surface that does not require seasoning.
| Parameter | Cumin Co. Enamel Cast Iron | Bare Cast Iron | PTFE Non-Stick |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cooking surface | Fired mineral enamel | Seasoned bare iron | PTFE coating |
| Seasoning | Not required | Required | Not required |
| Acidic food | Suitable | Can affect seasoning | Suitable |
| Heat retention | Excellent | Excellent | Lower |
| Cleaning | Soap and sponge | Requires more care | Gentle cleaning |
| Maintenance | Low | Regular seasoning | Coating eventually wears |
| Key consideration | Heavier than aluminium; enamel can chip if dropped | Rust and maintenance | Coating is consumable |
How Does the Naturally Non Stick Surface Work?
Cumin Co.'s naturally non-stick cookware relies on a smooth, non-porous enamel surface rather than a polymer coating. A properly preheated pan with a small amount of oil or ghee helps food release cleanly.
For best results:
- Preheat on medium for around 2–3 minutes.
- Add oil or ghee once the surface is properly heated.
- Add food and allow it to cook before attempting to move it.
- Let proteins and dosa batter form a crust before releasing them.
- Deglaze stuck-on residue with water or stock instead of aggressive scrubbing.
The surface is naturally non-stick, rather than equivalent to the slickness of a brand-new polymer coating. Cooking technique still matters.

How to Choose the Right Kitchenware for Your Home
Choose by Cooking Style
Start with the recipes you cook most often. Choose a Dutch oven for slow cooking and dal, a roti tawa for rotis and parathas, a dosa tawa for dosa and cheela, and a kadai for frying and sabzi.
Choose by Family Size
Choose cookware capacity around the number of people you regularly cook for. A 24–26cm kadai and 2.5L Dutch oven suit smaller households, while 28–32cm kadais and 4–5L Dutch ovens provide more room for family meals and batch cooking.
Choose by Health Priority
If avoiding synthetic coatings is your priority, look for cookware with a clearly stated material and coating composition. Cumin Co.'s enamel cookware uses fired mineral enamel without PTFE, PFOA or PFAS.
Choose by Weight Tolerance
Standard cast iron is heavy because its mass is part of its heat-retention advantage. If you need lighter cookware, the LITE Collection offers a lower-weight alternative to standard cast iron.
FAQs on Kitchenware and Non-Toxic Cookware
What is the difference between Enviromax™ and Enviromax™ Pro?
Enviromax™ protects the cookware's exterior, while Enviromax™ Pro is the four-layer, titanium-infused enamel used on the interior cooking surface.
Is Cumin Co. cookware really non-toxic?
Cumin Co. enamel cookware uses fired mineral enamel without a polymer coating and is declared free from PTFE, PFOA, PFAS, lead, cadmium, mercury and phthalates. The enamel technologies are tested to US FDA, LFGB and EU EC 1935/2004 food-contact standards.
Does enamel cast iron cookware require seasoning?
No. Enamel cast iron does not require the seasoning routine used for bare cast iron. The enamel seals the iron and protects it from oxidation.
Is Cumin Co. cookware induction compatible?
Cooktop compatibility depends on the product. Kadai, Dutch ovens, pans, woks and griddles are compatible with gas, induction, ceramic and electric cooktops, while the No. 10 Roti Tawa LITE is gas-only and the No. 11 and No. 12 Dosa Tawas are induction compatible.
What warranty do I get?
Standard enamel cast iron cookware carries a 10-year warranty, the LITE range carries a 5-year warranty, and Quill Series knives carry a lifetime warranty.
Are the Stash Series glass containers microwave and freezer safe?
Yes. Stash containers are borosilicate glass with food-grade silicone lids and are microwave, freezer and dishwasher safe.
How do I clean enamel cast iron cookware?
Use warm water, dish soap and a sponge. For stuck-on food, deglaze the warm pan rather than using steel wool or abrasive scourers.
